Believe me when I say that this production would not be possible without unstinting support and encouragement from many people. In particular, I want to recognize Lyn Daniel for her artwork, criticsm and belief in the story. Also, as prereaders Mike Allen and Ted Holeman aided with their suggestions, sharp eyes and sharper tongues, not letting my laziness detract from the quality of the narrative. If this fic rises above the commonplace, it is largely due to their efforts. Faith, hope, and words of kindness from many more people kept me from giving up and pursuing some less strenuous form of recreation. For the convenience of the writer(s), all Apaches speak Spanish (interpreted into English) during this story, except when noted. Descriptions are dredged from historical notes regarding the people of the area (as listed in a separate bibliography), from references on geology, flora and fauna of the region, and from the delightful vistas encountered in my slightly demented daydreams. I have written the Adventures of Macho Caballo/Las Aventuras de Macho Caballo (TAoMC/LAdMC) for the fun of it, with no anticipation of profiting financially from the effort thereof. However, this must be said - All characters included in TAoMC/LAdMC were created by yours truly and as such are not intended for use by others without permission. If you are making money from them, directly or indirectly, I would be a) amazed, b) incredulous, and c) envious, and the very least you could do would be to tell me how you did it. After that, it would only be polite to acknowledge the source. This story bears no resemblence to reality. Folks from Mexico would probably frown on it, the Apaches would disown it, and as for the Aztecs...they'd want nothing to do with it. I made it up. Oh, there was a lot of reading, and studying, and planning to get stuff from real life, but the story itself, the characters, most of the places, and the creatures depicted herein have never existed. Except in my mind. And now in yours. I hope they don't track mud on your floor, and I hope they leave the world a little better for having been here. Vaya Con Dios.
