The story of Macho Caballo is fiction.  It is not intended to be
historically accurate, nevertheless there are references within
it which allude to actual occurrences, for the purpose of lending
a 'realistic' atmosphere to the telling of the tale.

Macho Caballo came about because I decided to write a short spoof
of the many Ranma 1/2 fanfiction* stories available on the
internet.  In the story, Ranma and pals were supposed to
time-travel back to 19th century Mexico and meet a boy who had
suffered a fate simliar to Ranma - this boy had fallen into a 'sacred
spring' and now changed into a girl whenever splashed with hot
water.  As writing progressed, the characters took over the story
and it became their tale.  I never finished that original
concept.

Machismo: The original concept of 'machismo' was much like the
credo of the European knight - strength used to help others,
nobility, and protection of the weak.  Nowadays, the word has
come to mean self-centered male egotism, or something which a guy
has to do to prove himself a man.
